Foothill Ranch, CA [August 2009] – Nearly 200 attendees packed the International Plaza Resort’s
Indian-Pacific Ballroom for Renkus-Heinz’s 18th Annual Consultants’ Breakfast at this year’s InfoComm Convention.
As in years past, the event brought together some of the leading architects of modern audio and networking technology, converging in the early hours before the show opened to share information on emerging technologies that promise to shape tomorrow’s innovations. This year’s event held added significance as Renkus-Heinz celebrated their 30th anniversary at the show.
After a sumptuous breakfast buffet, attendees were treated to a presentation by Mark Dodd, Celestion’s Head of Group Research, entitled “A New Methodology for the Acoustic Design of Compression Driver Phase-Plugs with Concentric Annular Channels.” Dodd’s enlightening dissertation helped to shed light on new directions in driver development technology.
“Renkus-Heinz as a company is well known for its passion for innovation,” commented Dodd. “I’m honored to have been invited to speak at this event, which is an ideal opportunity for us all to share our experience with a view to opening up new horizons within the pro audio industry.”
Following Mark Dodd, Kevin Gross, Network Consultant for AVA Networks, delivered a detailed and informative presentation on “Convergence and Quality of Service in Today’s Media Networking.” Gross is one of the world’s leading experts on audio networking and the creator of CobraNet, licensed by more than 40 leading professional audio manufacturers.
Yong Kim, Senior Technical Director at Broadcom Corporation, then introduced Michael Johas Teener, who concluded the program with a discussion of “Emerging IEE1722 Standard for Audio and Vide Transport over Ethernet, Ethernet AVB.” Teener, who presently holds the title of Technical Director at Broadcom, is widely regarded as the “father of FireWire” for his pioneering work at Apple, where he was chair and editor of IEEE 1394, and for his current chairmanship of the IEEE 802.1 AVB standard.
“We always look forward to our consultants’ breakfast as an opportunity to bring together friends and clients to network and share information,” remarked Ralph Heinz, Renkus-Heinz’s Senior Vice President, who presided as moderator of the event. “This year we were truly fortunate to welcome some of our industry’s greatest innovators, each of whom delivered fascinating perspectives on some of the most significant technological developments currently inspiring us here at Renkus-Heinz, and others throughout the industry.”
