TEC Award Nomination for Renkus-Heinz IC Live

Harro Heinz, Renkus-Heinz CEO: “To receive a TEC Award nomination is a tremendous
honor for the entire engineering team that have created a truly unique product.”

Foothill Ranch, CA [August 2009] – The Renkus-Heinz IC LIVE Digitally Steerable Array loudspeaker for live performance has been nominated for a 2009 Technical Excellence & Creativity Award in the category of Outstanding Technical Achievement, Sound Reinforcement Loudspeaker Technology.

IC LIVE comprises a fully portable digitally steerable array loudspeaker with five neodymium 6.5-inch LF cone drivers and three neodymium compression drivers, each driven by an individual integrated DSP/amplifier channel, and the matching IC215S-R Sub. Control is via RHAON (Renkus-Heinz Audio Operations Network) over a single Ethernet cable via CobraNet, with AES/EBU and analog inputs.

The system delivers multiple benefits for live sound applications requiring precisely focusable sound coverage, ultra low profile loudspeaker cabinets, fast and simple setup, and fully integrated digital loudspeaker processing, amplification and hardware monitoring – in short, a package that’s uniquely optimized for portable applications.

“Vertical pattern control is often the key to providing good sound in difficult conditions,” says Renkus- Heinz Senior Vice President Ralph Heinz. “With IC Live, we have turned the typical line array on its end. Using digital steering, we can deliver better vertical pattern control and reduce flutter echoes from sidewalls.”

Harro Heinz, Renkus-Heinz CEO, comments: “To receive a TEC Award nomination is a tremendous honor for the entire engineering team that have created a truly unique product.”

The TEC Awards, presented by the Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio was established in 1985 to honor outstanding achievement in the professional audio production and product innovation. The nominations are made by a panel of more than 100 audio industry professionals. Members of professional audio and sound production organizations, including the Audio Engineering Society (AES), the Producers/Engineers Wing of the Recording Academy, SPARS and the Game Audio Network Guild (G.A.N.G.) will determine the winners via online balloting beginning August 10th.

The winners of the 25th Annual TEC Awards will be announced at a ceremony to be held Friday evening October 9, at the 127th AES Convention. The Convention is being held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The Mix Foundation will be displaying the 2009 Nominees on its website at www.mixfoundation.org and in a video presentation at the awards ceremony.
